Connection to the local architectural tradition
The house was designed in a village located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The area has a distinctive local architectural tradition—most buildings have a simple form. The predominant style is a brick barn with a gabled roof covered with ceramic tiles. The core idea of the project was to draw inspiration from the local character of the built environment.
Context of the site
The designed building is a kind of dialogue between traditional rural architecture, characteristic of this region, and contemporary functionalism with innovative aesthetic solutions.
Building Form
The main core of the building is a two-story brick structure with a gabled roof finished with ceramic tiles. The building reflects the scale and proportions characteristic of the local architecture, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Surrounding the main brick volume is a black, single-story rectangular box, which has been sculpted in certain areas to create covered terraces and porches on the ground floor. Above this section, a terrace is located, accessible from the bedrooms on the upper floor. The gable wall features large glazed openings, characteristic of modern barn-style houses, allowing ample natural light to fill the interior.
Room layout
The building features a functional layout.
n the ground floor, there is a two-car garage, a vestibule, workspaces, a bathroom, a pantry, and a spacious living area comprising a kitchen, dining area, and living room. The living space is open to a double-height ceiling and connected to the surrounding terrace through large glass panels.
An openwork staircase leads to the upper floor, which houses the bedrooms, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom. The rooms on this level are complemented by a terrace situated above the single-story section of the house.
